Code of Good Practice

The Valencia Region Translators and Interpreters’ Network recommends that its members adhere to the following standards of good professional conduct:

  • Stay up to date on payments as regards clients, social security etc.
  • Meet tax obligations.
  • Pay up debts with customers and colleagues.
  • Give and request fees in keeping with the level of skill, studies and work necessary to do a professional linguistic job.
  • Dignify the profession by being honest and polite to customers and colleagues, which implies:
  • Non-disclosure of clients’ confidential information.
  • Not “stealing” clients from agencies that have provided us with their work.
  • Notifying of malpractice.
  • Avoiding insults or spreading unfounded rumours etc.
  • Helping to maintain an environment conducive to good work within and outside the association.
  • Ongoing education in a profession with an increasing need for technology and expertise in specific fields.
  • Keeping up Xarxa’s hard-earned, good reputation. Xarxa is a non-profit association. Belonging to this association confers upon its members the prestige of such an association with its objectives, statutes and code of good practice, as well as to some extent ensuring the professionalism of its members for new clients and colleagues. It is not a private company and should not be used or abused as such.
